My kid can SAY walk better than your kid

He can talk the talk, but can he walk the walk? Almost!

So Bryce is a little late with the walking... right now he is 13 months and 3 weeks and I think he is on the verge of walking... tonight he actually walked all the way across the room but for about the last 2 weeks he would take about 4 or 5 steps from one person to another). This puts him about 2 1/2 months behind Colby with the walking. Don't get me wrong... this kid hasn't been sitting around like a log - he crawls super fast and climbs like a monkey.

His verbal skills, however, are pretty impressive. At his 12 month checkup he had about 4 or 5 words... mama, Dada, "ah" aka hat (yeah, weird), "dah" aka dog... he also did a few signs occasionally - mainly all done or more. And he could wave and shake his head no (very emphatically) and pant (for a dog).

In the past month and a half he's added these to his vocabulary...
walk (well usually "wah, wah, wah")
ball ("bah")
rock (or "rah, rah, rah" when he's on a rocking horse)
bye bye ("buh buh")
water ("wawa")
no ("nah")
yeah
night-night ("nigh nigh")
cat ("tat")
some word for more

He can also label my eyes, nose and mouth... and bryce says a form of those too.

think there are some more but can't think right now.

He is pretty good at using inflection... he can't say the whole word but he's good with the initial sound... and pretty good at copying a lot of other words.

And his newest word... DORA! He went to visit Nammy and Pops last week and apparently knew "Dora" when they watched it on tv. Colby is a little Dora-obsessed, but I thought it was funny Bryce knows her since he can't see it in the car (still rear facing) and we don't watch it at home. But I guess she has enough Dora dolls, books, etc. that he still knows. And the other day he picked up one of her Dora dolls and said "Dora" and hugged her... too funny! But a strange word for top 15 words... and a 13 month old boy!

Colby talked really well early too... and was really good at signing. (apparently my kids excel in talking instead of their large motor skills). Bryce doesn't show that much interest in signing, but he really likes to talk! Maybe it comes from having an older sister.
