Watkins Glen State Park - NY

We had a quick stop at Watkins Glen on our way to Canada to spend the night in one of their cabins and break up our trip... we ended up in the same cabin as last year, coincidentally. We ordered pizza (also from the same place as last year where Haddie had her accident) but decided to avoid the park where Hadleigh split her head open and opted to climb the bottom part of the glen.  It is such a beautiful place and even better when there are just a few other visitors instead of the usual crowds. I would highly recomend a walk along the gorge trail! It's about 2 miles long, if you park at the upper or lower entrance you can take a shuttle back to the other end for a $$. Last year we parked at the middle entrance (close to the campground) and hiked to the top and then all the way to the bottom (along the rim trail but the gorge trail is def better). I then went back up partway to get the car and met the family at the bottom for some Ben & Jerry's (which shortened their walk a bit).

I think the coolest part might be the staircase through the rock and the waterfall that you get to walk behind! If you don't have the time for the whole trail, just start at the bottom and go up as far as you can and back down again.
