So we've decided to go semi-green this year, and for the most part are sending our greetings out virtually (complete with a few video greetings)... you can click on any of the pictures to see larger. Enjoy!
This has been another awesome year for the Bosley family!
In January, Bryan and a very pregnant Cassie took an amazing trip to the Big Island of Hawaii. There we explored ruins from old temples and villages… trekked down to hidden black sand beaches… wandered through a lava tube and across former lava flows and near steam vents at an active volcano… viewed the stars from the top of Mauna Kea… drove to the southernmost tip of the US… snorkeled in a fish preserve… waded in natural ocean hot springs… toured a hidden valley by wagon… enjoyed some fresh Kona coffee… and spotted lots of sea turtles and whales! The only thing we didn’t do much of… relax! But we had an amazing trip! While we were away, Colby had a lot of fun with “Nemo” and “Papa” (Bosley) in Deep Creek, MD and then at their house in Butler.
This winter we actually got more snow at home than in the Mountains… so we only had one good snowmobiling trip. But at home we got 2 huge snowfalls in the matter of 4 days… with about 18 to 22 inches each time.
Easter was spent at home awaiting the birth of baby #2.
April brought another amazing change for us with the Birth of Bryce Mason. Bryce was born via c-section 10 days late on April 23rd at 1:52 pm, weighing in at 8 pounds 10 ounces and measuring 22 inches in length. They had a really hard time getting him out and the birth was rather traumatic and painful for Cassie, but he was worth it! Big Sister Colby wasn’t sure about him at first, but after a few days, she turned into a doting sister and great helper… especially with entertaining him!
This summer we spent a lot of time introducing Bryce to our family and friends, going to the mountains, visiting CT and Butler, taking our annual trip to Canada, and even took a trip to Maine in early September (without Daddy)… meeting the Bosley’s for a trip to Acadia National Park, and visiting with the Weeks’ in Oakland.
In October we embarked on another home-improvement project… the biggest one yet, our kitchen! We are so blessed to have such an awesome (and talented!) family to help us… Mark, Chet, and Lowell were all able to come for at least a weekend to help and in less than 2 months we had new walls and ceiling, cabinets, flooring, and countertops. We have some finishing touches left but we think it looks awesome… and I think it has inspired me and I have actually started (trying) to cook!!
Also in October we celebrated Colby's 2nd birthday (and Bryan's 28th... how fun that they share a birthday!?!)... and the kids spent a better part of the month dressed up in costume... skunk, cat, dog, cow, monkey, flapper, etc.
Thanksgiving we visited Big Sky with the Heims (and Poulin friends!) and then took a trip out to Butler.
Cassie and kids also had a lot of fun throughout the year having playdates with our friends, going on “field trips”, going to storytime at the library and toddler gym, and frequent visits to Dutch Wonderland/Hershey Zoo America/Hands on House with our passes. And weekends are daddy time with some awesome family field trips to the Lancaster Science Factory, pumpkin picking, the Pittsburg Zoo, Cabela’s, alpaca farms, to several farm shows and more…

Colby (2) loves dolls and stuffed animals, playing in her kitchen, dancing, reading, and singing. She may be a little on the short side (and let’s face it, she has a belly that rivals Santa), but she sure is smart! The doctor asked if she talks in 3 word sentences… more like 8 or 9 words! This fall she started school… I know, she’s a little young, but I wanted her to get used to some separation from family (and it is only for 1.5 hours a week… a great chance for me to run an errand or 2 with just Bryce). At first she had a really hard time (and there were lots of tears)… but in mid-November it was like a switch went on and she decided she likes it! But she still has to reassure herself 2 or 3 times on the way there that “Mommy take Colby to school and mommy and Bryce leave and Colby stay at school… then mommy come back and get Colby”… so funny! But now she likes to go play with her friends and asks if it’s time to go. On October 16th she turned 2… and it was almost like another switch turned on the independence button! We have a hard time some days with getting stuff done because she wants to do it herself. We celebrated her birthday with friends at Hayloft Petting Zoo and everyone had a great time.
Bryce (8 months) has been so much fun to watch as he is exploring this new world. Physically he is more advanced than Colby, rolling at 11 weeks (Colby didn’t like to roll at all!), sitting by 5 ½ months, crawling and cruising along furniture at 7 months… and I have a feeling he will be an early walker too! And something that still amazes me… he opens his mouth for a spoon! He is a very happy and smiley (and handsome!) baby, although he does like to be held a lot. And I’m not sure who he loves more, Mama or Colby (even when she sits on him)! He also growls a lot… and falls over a lot… I think it’s a boy thing! What a blessing he has been to our family in the past 8 months!
Cassie works full-time as mommy, but continued to sub periodically up until her due date in April… and once again taught summer school (online Family & Consumer Management). In November she started subbing again a bit if “Nammy” (Heim) was available to babysit. She continues to be very active in the Lancaster Mom’s Group, and in July took over as the president. And despite being pretty busy with two kiddos, even managed to take some Wilton cake decorating classes this summer… and she’s hooked! Bryan had another great year with Analytical Design Solutions, Inc.… and despite the economy, it was their best year yet! Their main product Kioware, is used as kiosk software in a variety of places ranging from colleges to airports to grocery stores to churches to hospitals to banks. Two huge clients this year include T-Mobile and Best Buy. And he just switched over to a Mac in order to work on some mobile apps for the company. He also enjoys going to the playground with Colby, making Bryce laugh, going on "field trips" with our family, doing manly outdoor stuff with his dad and father/brother-in-laws, and keeping up with all the new technological advances.
